Day Four dawned overcast with a light breeze for the 180 boats that headed out today into a light chop. Over the history of The MidAtlantic the last day of the tournament has become known as “Moving Day” as the leaderboard typically sees a complete shake-up. That would not be the case this year as Moving Day came a day early! The billfish bite continued at a torrid pace and big eye tuna showed up in force! As a result the white marlin and tuna categories were both entirely reshuffled. The tournament wraps up tomorrow but only 11 boats out of the field of 181 are eligible to fish.

Once again, the evening’s weigh-in session got off to a fast start as Christopher Little of Pasadena, Maryland had his Talkin’ Trash at the scale with a huge big eye tuna to weigh for angler Matt Weaver which pulled the scale down to 253 pounds catapulting Talkin’ Trash to the top of the leaderboard in the category. Worthy of note is that’s only one pound short of the tournament record set way back in 1993 aboard Bernard and Drew Dinardi’s Absolut-ly. In other news in the tuna category, Captain Evan Millas put Summit, New Jersey’s Bob Hugin aboard his The Right Place into second place today after weighing a big eye of 234 pounds for angler Deane Lambros. Minutes later Captain Blaine Birch wheeled Ken Hager’s Taylor Jean based out of Tinton Falls, New Jersey to the scale and weighed a 216-pounder for angler Tony Chieffo.

In the white marlin category, Clint Clement of Cape May Court House wheeled his Common Sense to the scale with a white marlin for angler Todd Flodman that measured 73¼” and weighed 87 pounds! Other boats making moves today include a 76-pounder angler Mike Dahl bested for Edgewater, Maryland’s Howard Berger aboard Boss Hogg with Captain Brian Porter at the wheel which is currently in second place. NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan’s Catch 23 from Jupiter, Florida with Captain Stetson Turney at the wheel is in third place after weighing a 75-pounder that measured 71½”.

Chip Caruso’s Pipe Dreamer out of Ocean, New Jersey continues to lead the blue marlin division at 889 pounds weighed on Day Three while Shon Craig’s Amarula Sun from of Tarpon Springs, Florida sits in second place with

the 548 pounder he also weighed on Day Three. Jay Keller’s Tighten Up from Mount Airy, Maryland is in third place with a 528-pounder, also weighed on Day Three.

The dolphin category standings changed today after Joe Bernert’s Quick Raise weighed a 34-pound dolphin and moved into second place. David Schockley of Jupiter, Florida is still in the lead with a 45-pounder on his Liquidity weighed on Day One. Jeff Kogok’s Too Many Martinis from Saint Michaels, Maryland is now in third place with a 33-pounder weighed on Day Two.

In the wahoo category Jim McCarthy of Shillington, Pennsylvania moved into second place aboard his Covert Mission today after weighing a 52-pounder. Kyle Dougherty of Cape May Court House, New Jersey aboard his Y-Knot remains atop the category with a 56-pounder caught on Day Three while Ocean City, Maryland’s Wayne Odachowski aboard his Water Damage is now in third place with a 51-pounder, also caught on Day Three.

Some of the boats with notable billfish releases on Day Three include Pat Healey’s Viking 80 with seven white marlin released while Gina Addeo’s Gina Lisa released six white marlin. Marty Judge’s Judge released five white marlin while Alan Sadler’s Intents and George Robinson’s Polarizer each released four white marlin.
